Tip: listen to the music - feel it - it has a Latino flavour.. treat the dance in the same way. Shorten the steps/movements and use plenty of hip and hand/arm action for extra styling.

Check the script for the many alternate pieces of music

Moving On Up

Choreographed by:- William Sevone. July 1st 2004
Choreographed to:- "Moving on up" (110 bpm)...M People ("Elegant Slumbing" / many compilations)
Four Wall Line Dance:- 32 count - Beginner
Choreographers note:- A Push (Step) is similar to a Rock (Step) – except that the dancer is leaning ‘backward’.
The dance should present no problems to established Beginners or above within the new levels.
As steps are short there is plenty of room for Latino hip movements for extra flavour.

Always remember - 'The beat may reach your feet - but the rhythm should electrify your soul'.
Dance starts on the vocals (all versions) with feet slightly apart and weight on the left .

2x Side Rock-Rock-Together-Hold (12:00)
1-2 Rock right to right side. Rock onto left.
3-4 Step right next to left. Hold.
5-6 Rock left to left side. Rock onto right.
7-8 Step left next to right. Hold.

Push Step. Step. Bwd Push Step. Step. 2x Shuffle (12:00)
9-10 Push step right forward. Step onto left.
11-12 Push step right backward. Step onto left.

2x Fwd-Pivot 1/2 Left. Grapevine. Toe Touch (12:00)
17-18 Step forward onto right. Pivot 1/2 left (weight on left).
19-20 Step forward onto right. Pivot 1/2 left (weight on left).
21-22 Step right to right side. Cross step left behind right.
23-24 Step right to right side. Touch left toe next to right - clicking fingers
Dance note: Option: Count 24 - Angle body to left & touch left heel forward - clicking fingers.

Grapevine. Toe Touch. 2x Bwd Shuffle. 1/4 Right (3:00)
25-26 Step left to left side. Cross right over left.
27-28 Step left to left side. Touch right toe next to left - clicking fingers.
Dance note:Option: Count 28 - Angle body to right & touch right heel forward - clicking fingers.
28&30 Shuffle backward stepping: R.L-R
31&32 Shuffle backward stepping: L.R-L.
& (with right slightly raised) Turn 1/4 right - ready to restart the dance from count 1

General Style Note: As all the shuffle's are 'short stepped', why not include an 'upper body angle'.
