Hi,

In the length of time I have been Linedancing (I can safely say in most cases longer than some dancers have been living) I have only ever been to a handful of 'weekenders'. Out of those I have only enjoyed (for the full weekend)..... one... But then again I'm an awkward sod (and truth be known) not a linedance socialiser. But I do take notice of events etc.. and have commented on other websites of the (sometimes) rather high charges for these events. Though from the replies recieved it appeared that no many people were bothered as long as they were with a 'happy crowd and lots of great (sic) dances'.
This sort of answer is 'mannah from Heaven' to those 'I do it for the love of linedancing' people who arrange these 'parties' on a full time basis.. anyone with half a brain can easily work out its more a case of for the 'love of money'. Not all these type of people are to be tarred with the same brush - but there ARE enough out there who run it as a business.. profits and all (its just excessive profit I'm not ofey with)

The day passes are also there as a 'security blanket' incase all the rooms are not taken up. And if they are... more money to line the pockets of the agents. (Tell ya what though... I know of one choreographer UK who charges £500 for a night... but they do have 'expenses').

As for your weekend I cant help feeling (as you dont mention it) that your FIRST night there might not have been as good as what you expected, when these 'gatecrashers' (lol) arrived the following night a little more action took place. And you may have thought (as I or the majority of logically minded folk would think) 'why have I spent £XXXXX when i could have spent £XX ..and had as much fun.

What WAS the first night like ...in comparison to the second... you can be honest Cool .. THIS message board wont rip you apart badgrin .

I've been on a few line dance weekends and I can't say I really noticed who were the day trippers and who were the weekenders. Probably because I didn't know that many people anyway.

I really enjoyed my first weekend away, but the subsequent ones I went on I didn't, so I gave them up. I either didn't get to dance as much as I would have liked, or danced the same dance over and over again.

"....or danced the same dance over and over again."..

I know the feeling... I mean ... The Chicken Dance - six times in a row is a bit much for anyone....

Actually Mike the first night was very good, We had Alan Gregory who is a very good entertainer. The second night was just disco and also enjoyable but much less so due to increased numbers. Oh and you are right about some week-ends. (not this one) Ribbon of Highway 10 times in three hours can be soul destroying!
