What can I say - it was the man himself. Mr Keith Urban. I'm a Keithy fan. I had always fancied having ago at line dancing but had absolutely no idea that it was done anywhere.

I know I have problems keeping up with things pale Some of my fellow urbanites had told me about linedancing and I went to a social and couldn't dance a step. I figured I wouldn't get the hang of it even if I tried.

Anyway some of you will have heard this before, but my daughter saw a copy of LD magazine in a store in Nottingham with an article about Keith in it. Well at the time articles about the man were pretty rare over here. Pre Nicole days! So she like a good daughter bought the mag' and sent it to me. Once I'd finished druelling over Keith I read the rest of the mag' and found that actually there were classes all over the place. So I rang a few, got one that said, "welcome along" to complete beginner and off I went. That was a year ago. When we got home we found that we had actually learnt a dance and it was great fun. Since then we've been hooked. flower

I started line dance because I had a party where we learned three line dances and at that time i already liked it and then I was starting in my hometown, and after my danceschool closed I started dancing somewhere else and that was the beginning of enjoying line dance evenings, party's and events. And five years ago I also started competing in line dance championships.

Line dance is such fun lol! hihi

Hi, I'm new to this site. I started line dancing because my Sister's been dancing for ages and she kept on and on and on.... so I went along and after I had managed to learn one (I think it was probably One Step Forward and Two Steps Back Very Happy ) I started to enjoy it, especially because my OH doesnt dance and I didnt need a partner !!!!! Been dancing now for a few years. It got a bit out of hand a while back, I started going nearly every night Shocked, now I'm down to twice a week Crying or Very sad

Reckon it must have been at the same time as when I (along with a friend) choreographed my first 'line' dance. No point in doing things by halfs now is there... Very Happy Very Happy

I saw it on the t.v. and simple had to find a place to learn....mostly,because my husband doesn´t like to dance at all. Rolling Eyes
It wasn´t easy to find something around here, it was yeeeears ago and nobody had ever heard about linedancing in Duesseldorf. Sad
(and I couldn´t go in the internet to have a look and find nice people like you all) beer
One day, a friend of mine came with a plan of a local VHS where there was an advertisement, I called them and two days later I was on the dancefloor....and since then....I can´t stop fun

...was a simple as that Very Happy

Hi, (I'm new to this forum) I started linedancing 14 years ago and have been hooked ever since! I love all aspects of L/dance and have made dozens of friends along the way. Started dancing at the "home" of linedancer magazine with Betty and Steve (Shy Boots and Stompers) and have lot's of fond memories of our days with them. Look forward to browsing the site.

Hi KK...

And a warm welcome to you... I see you were in good company at the Shy Boots & Stompers - and after 14 years, your still curling the boards... nice one.

Thanks for the warm welcome...yep we really enjoyed our days at shy boots (hubbie dances too) and miss them all so much since moving to Spain a while back. However when we visit in a few weeks time we'll pay them a visit again, can't wait.
